Our homeschool group has been studying issues of conservation and the environment over the last 3 weeks. The kids have done various Earth Day projects, including cool crafts from recyclables, an effort toward tree planting and a field trip to a local recycle center. Here is a cool video on the 3 R's to watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loeHhmUh-nE&feature=related
And here is the unit I've been using with my own kids, an awesome free unit study on The Lorax from the homeschool share website: Lorax Unit Study We have a nice compost going out back also that the kids are learning about. Two more books we've been enjoying are "Curious George Plants a Tree" and "The Berenstain Bears Don't Pollute (anymore)"!
Thanks to Shaner Avenue Nursery for donating two beautiful linden trees for the kids to further learn about the environment and how to help planet earth!
